Nothing much went on in Gaborone today except for some mild trading in BIHL (1661t) and Choppies (400t).
Once again we had a quiet day in Nairobi with the odd cross spicing up proceedings. Some aggressive foreign buying in Safcom pushed the telco up a massive 3.8% to KES17.75 while Equity Bank followed suit (+1.3%, KES38.50). On the flip side, EABL continues to fall off a cliff and closed down at KES278 (-3.5%). The rest of the market was quiet.
A much better day in Port Louis thanks to some decent activity in MCBG as 82k shares changed hands. There was also some small activity in SBMH (12m shares), LUX (117k shares) and Terra (145k shares).
A couple of late crosses in the likes of ETI and NB helped the last day of H1 volumes reach a respectable $16.6m. Banks closed the day 79bps in the red with activity levels raised by GTB (+4bps, N23.26) and ETI (-3.09%, N16.00). Consumers also closed marginally softer (-51bps) with NB (-1.44%, N138.00) the main mover. The rest of the market was painfully quiet.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A small bit of action in Delta ($95k) and Simbisa ($85k) the only names worth mentioning on a rather dull day in Harare.
