A dull and soft end to the week in Nairobi. Most of the action took place in Safcom (-30bps, KES14.35) while KNCB (-60bps, KES40.25) also fell. Equity Bank fell by 6.1% to KES 42.00 although this is deceptive thanks to yesterday's outlier in terms of closing price.
Some small action in MCBG and SBMH the only names worth mentioning on an otherwise dull day as 59k and 13.4m shares traded in the names respectively.
Another dull day in Lagos although a couple of late bookovers spiced up proceedings. Banks rose by 1.07% with the bulk of the action taking place in GTB (+9bps, N23.09), Zenith (+3.29%, N17.60) and Stanbic (-4.83%, N18.91). Consumers fell by 2.97% with a reversal in NB from yesterday (-5.07%, N136.85) and Nestle (-1.31%, N825.01).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another disappointing day in Harare with turnover amounting to $463k. There was some activity in Innscor ($337k), while the rest of the market was extremely quiet.
