The market opened the week on a low note as foreigners accounted for 32.6% of total turnover. Foreign interests were mainly aligned with EABL on both sides as the counter closed down 0.3% after 552.4k shares were exchanged in the name. Other movers included Safaricom (+1.9%, KES16.35), KCB (-0.9%, KES56) and Centum (+0.8%, KES66). BAT shed its previous week gains after the name closed down by 4.2% at KES701.
Main movers included MCB, SBM and IBL which accounted for 74.7% of total market turnover. MCB gained 0.2% at Rs217 on the back of 70.9k shares traded whilst SBM closed flat at the Rs0.92 levels after 15.6m shares were exchanged in the name.
After a really dull start to the week we saw activity pick up throughout the day. Banks gained 60bps with the bulk of the action taking place in Zenith (+15bps, N19.50) as more than 97m shares changed hands in the name. Zenith accounted for about half the total daily turnover. Consumers also gained 72bps led higher by NB (+1.72%, N150.57) and Unilever (+1.11%, N45.50). There was some action in Dangcem (+29bps, N175.50) and Oando (unch, N15.90).

The market remains subdued, main movers included the likes of Econet, Innscor and Old Mutual.
