A chunky cross in Sefalana (1330t) was the only action on a generally quiet day.
A much better day in Nairobi thanks to a few decent crosses in EQBNK (+0.7%) as a total of 8.9m shares traded in the name. What is interesting to note is that the majority of sales in the name were done by locals while foreigners accounted for the bulk of purchases. There was also some decent activity in KNCB as 5.2m shares traded while foreigners dominated proceedings in the name. Not much on the go in Safcom as 6.8m shares traded in the telco while EABL failed to register a single trade.
A modicum of activity returned to the Mauritian bourse today mostly thanks to MCBG (unch, Rs211.00). There was also mild trades in SBMH (unch, Rs0.64).
Things continued to slow down in Lagos today with some activity in GTB ($2.9m), Nestle ($1.2m) and Zenith ($1.2m) the only names worth mentioning. Banking stocks managed to bounce back a bit with the sector closing +2.00% higher thanks to GTB (+4.17%) and Zenith (+2.24%). It was a rather dull affair in the consumer space with the sector closing a marginal +0.01% higher as Nestle gained +0.02%. 7Up released FY 2016 results with the name closing +1.43% higher.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another big rise for the Industrials today although volumes remain lethargic. The main mover today was Econet which closed at 21c.
