A better day in Gaborone, but nothing to get excited about with some small activity in Choppies.
A rather slow day in Nairobi with not a single name breaking the $1m turnover mark as the usual market driver Safcom (unch) was very quiet. Elsewhere, there is unfortunately not much worth reporting on.
Some massive crossing in Rockcastle led the way in Mauritius today. This was done via a single foreign cross while normal market trading was rather dull.
Another average day in Lagos with some action in Access ($2.6m), UBA ($1.8m), Seplat ($1.6m), Zenith ($1.5m) and FBNH ($1.4m) driving proceedings. Banking stocks managed to bounce back today with the sector closing +2.49% higher thanks to Access (+7.31%), UBA (+4.49%), FBNH (+3.44%) and Zenith (+3.44%). Consumers closed +1.33% higher on another quiet day in the sector.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another active day in Harare with the local buyers continuing to aggressively push the index higher. Today almost the entire volume went through in Econet as the telco continues to run (35.50c).
