Activity was heavily focused on Choppies (256t) with nothing else really going on.
The market returned to normality today after yesterday’s fireworks. Resuming its place at the top of the pile was Safcom which re-emerged as the most active stock. The telco closed unchanged at KES22.75. The only other decent action went through in the normally illiquid Co-op Bank (unch, KES17.00).
A much more subdued day in Port Louis although the Semdex continues to rise while MCBG (+1.2%, Rs263.00) continues to reach record highs on what seems to be a daily occurrence these days. Once again the banking group accounted for the lion’s share of turnover as well.
The market took a real hammering today with red dominating the screens. The Banks (-2.90%) took a real beating with every name in the sector losing ground. As usual, activity was centered on GTB (-2.53%, N34.99) and Zenith Bank (-3.99%, N21.20). Consumers (-1.14%) also got dragged down albeit on much quieter volumes with only NB (-1.19%, N166.00) seeing any decent trades. DangCem (-4.19%, N205.00) also closed in the red on decent volume.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The rally seems to be running out of puff although we still saw some decent volumes going through. Today was highlighted by the likes of Delta (125.20c), Econet (33.07c) and Innscor (72c).
