A solid day in Botswana with some chunky action going through in Letshego (266t). There was also some nice trading in Sefalana (1330t).
A much better day in Nairobi with foreign interest returning to the market as they accounted for 69.2% of activity. Both major banking stocks closed in positive territory with some decent volume in KNCB (+0.6%) and EQBNK (+1.3%) as 3.6m shares and 3.8m shares traded respectively. A foreign cross in BMBC drove proceedings in the usually illiquid name as 500k shares traded. There was also some foreign action in BATK as 62k shares changed hands while Safcom and EABL were very quiet.
An extremely dull day in Mauritius. There was nothing special to write home about.
Things slowed down a bit today in Lagos, but activity remained above the $10m mark (we'll take what positives we can) with Zenith ($3.3m) once again dominating proceedings while there was also some action in Wema Bank ($1.3m) and GTB ($1.1m). Banks had a very solid day with the sector closing +1.73% higher thanks to good gains in Zenith (+4.02%) and GTB (+2.68%). Consumers (+0.35%) also closed higher with NB (+1.98%) putting in a good performance.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Absolutely nothing to report on from Harare.
